The edge of life,

the last ice,

and

explorations at the end of the world

The edges of life around the world are changing fast.

Sponsored by National Geographic, the expedition leaves in June 2023 for Station Nord, and then to the north coast of Greenland and the Kaffeklubben Ø area where the last land on earth waits.

The goals of the project are three-fold

Science communication/storytelling – A stunning visual opportunity to share the edge of all life and the rapidly changing landscape that is disappearing and emerging in equal measure.

Education – Reaching into classrooms globally, before, during and after the expedition, and engaging the public in exploration of their own.

Research – Ecological, geological, microplastics, snow patterns, and more. The landscape is barely known, a site of stories and legends but little data.

The team:

Brian Buma: Ecologist, biogeographer (Nat Geo profile)
Jeff Kerby: Arctic biologist, photographer (Nat Geo profile)
Kim Young: Educator (Nat Geo profile)
Ole Bennike: Geologist (GEUS)
